Esraa Saleh, the former SUSO coordinator for the 2014-15 year, currently coordinates for the Youth Program at the Arab American Family Support Center. She facilitates the weekly Girls Club in which she works closely with teenage Arab girls in nourishing their social, political, and emotional intelligence. Esraa studied Political Science and Women’s Studies at the City College of New York as well as worked for the Gender Studies department. She seeks to further expand her knowledge in gender politics and relations in North Africa and also within her community in Harlem. Esraa’s goal is to sustain an environment in which men are engaged in gender issues especially regarding gender based violence. She largely emphasizes the importance of shared participation, responsibility, and accountability from men in facing gender based discrimination because it is their issue too.
